One
cannot abandon a downed boat, collect the insurance and forget
about it. The owner of a disabled boat remains liable for
subsequent problems associated with the boat..
If a boat goes down in or near a navigable
channel, the U.S. Coast Guard will require its removal. If the
owner fails to respond, the Coast Guard will remove it for them
and expect the owner to pay the cost of recovery along with a
possible fine.
Smith's Boat Salvage is
experienced in recovering boats lost to the forces of nature,
through navigational error or to the perils of the
sea. After hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Smith's Boat
Salvage recovered many boats for major insurance companies and
individuals.
